Fact 1: Who invented Makeup? The name of the inventor of Makeup is unknown but it is believed to have been invented c. 4000 BC by the Ancient Egyptians (5000 - 3100 BCE).

Fact 2: Why was Makeup applied? The Ancient Egyptians applied makeup not just to enhance and emphasize the appearance of both men and women but also for several different reasons.

Fact 3: Who invented Makeup? Some Ancient Egyptians wore cosmetics for medical reasons. Ancient Egyptian Physicians prescribed the use of kohl against eye diseases, to shield the eye against the sun and act as a deterrent to flies.

Sixties eye makeup adopted the 'Panda' look with dramatic, defined eye shadow doll-like false eyelashes and extremely pan-cake pale lips. The 1963 Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor was released and her makeup brought cosmetics full circle as many fashion conscious women emulated the Cleopatra look.
