Industrial Revolution Inventions:  The first part of the Industrial Revolution (1700 - 1860) was characterized by inventions centered on Iron, Coal, Steam Power, Textiles and Agriculture. The Inventions of the Second Industrial Revolution (1850 - 1914) were characterized by new inventions that focused on Oil, Steel and Electricity. The inventions of the Industrial Revolution, and the new machinery produced at this time, had a massive impact on the methods used to manufacture goods, on transportation, weapons, food and communications. The Second Industrial Revolution inventions changed people's way of life from a rural agricultural environment to an urban city environment.

Second Industrial Revolution Inventions - Oil, Steel and Electricity: Inventors used electricity and petrol to power their inventions. The Second Industrial Revolution witnessed the introduction of the Electric Light, the Steel Mills, the Telephone and the Elevator. Labor saving devices for use in the home were also invented such as the Washing Machine, Vacuum Cleaner, Dishwasher and Refrigerator.
