History of the Chicken: The chicken was first domesticated around 6000 BC in southeast Asia, China, Thailand, Burma and India. The domesticated chicken spread to Ancient Egypt, Greece and the Romans and across the Roman Empire and Western Civilizations. The chicken was introduced to the 'New World' during the Age of Exploration and by the migrants who made America their new home.

Fact 1: Who invented Fried Chicken? The tradition of frying chicken dates back to at least the time of the Ancient Romans who documented the oldest collection of recipes to survive from antiquity.

Fact 2: Who invented Fried Chicken? An old recipe for Fried Chicken can be found in 'Apicius', a recipe book from Ancient Rome that was compiled in the 4th century AD.  'Apicius' was a collection of Roman recipes that included contributions written by a famous Roman Gourmet, called Marcus Gavius Apicius, who lived in the 1st Century AD reign of Tiberius.
